Last Call for Windsor 375 Parade Entries - Deadline: August 30
A Woodland String Band "Hillbilly" performs in the New Years Day Philadelphia Mummers parade

With Windsor's grand 375th Anniversary Parade only 39 days away, 72 parade units including 30 floats, 17 bands and 25 "other" assorted marching units have already signed on to march with pride and wish Windsor a Happy Birthday!

Parade Chairperson Joe Mcauliffe reports "We know everyone is looking forward to seeing the Woodland String Band, a premier Philadelphia "mummers" band perform in the parade as well as the CT Firefighters Band, Heartland Dixieland Band, the All Star Dyn-o-Myte Disco Review Band and the calypso style Hartford Steel Symphony - and we know they won't disappoint!"

Mcaullife adds that the committee is thrilled with the positive response from Windsor's "daughter towns," (those Connecticut towns that were once part of Windsor) who received special invitations to to "come home to Windsor" to participate in the parade.

Many of the daughter towns are sending their High School marching bands that will surely liven up the parade event. Others are bringing floats and some are sending fire and police units to represent their communities. At the time of this writing, the following daughter towns and/or their Historical Societies have confirmed participation: Ellington, Tolland, East Granby, Torrington, Simsbury, South Windsor, East Windsor, Enfield, Wintonbury (Bloomfield.)

While the parade committee is entering the final planning stages for this spectacular event - it is not too late to join in on the fun. Applications for parade entries will be acccepted until August 30, 2008.
